Russian customs sieze iran radioactive medal

The Federal Customs Service said in a statement that found 18 pieces of metal at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport after a radiation alert went on. It says the gauges showed that radiation levels were 20 times higher than normal.It was not immediately clear if the substance could have any use in Iran's controversial nuclear program.The pieces contained Sodium22, she said, a radioactive isotope of sodium that could be produced in a particle accelerator. Sodium22 is a positron-emitting isotope that has medical uses, including in nuclear medicine imaging.Grebenkina said prosecutors have launched a probe into the incident.

Kids suspended for tebowing

Tebowing is a new thing that is being picked up by people everywere, celebrities, and other famous people after Tim Tebow won a game in the fourth quarter and bowed his head. Four student in Riverhead High School in long island were suspended four tebowing. The administration told us that our Tebowing was blocking the halls and could potentially cause a riot, because they were growing in number and if the wrong kid gets pushed a brawl could happen, football and baseball player Connor Carroll said. "We had no idea that we could get suspended for such a thing. It was a joke between a group of friends that took a life of its own. We figured at the most we would just be told to stop."

comet survives pass through suns corona

The newly found comet named lovejoy which was being studied by scientists survived a pass through the sun. A NASA spacecraft followed the comet through space. It has a core that is 660 feet wide and is in a class of comets that orbits the sun. The comet was discover on November 27th. It was discoverd by a australian amateur astronomer.

James Harrison suspended 1 game for hit on Colt Mccoy

The NFL suspended Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison without pay for a hit on Browns Quarterback Colt Mccoy. The Pittsburgh Steelers are playing a very important game against the San Franciso  49ers (10-3) and the Steelers are also (10-3) and hope to get another win this monday night and they need there star pass rusher. James Harrison is appealing the one game suspension. The NFL stated that James Harrison only has 3 business days to appeal the decision. Harrisons hit last thursday was his 5th fined hit on a quarterback since 2010 and there was a couple more on other players.

Chris Pauls ask agent for trade to Knicks

Chris Paul the star point guard for the New Orleans Hornets asked to be traded to the New York Knicks said his agent. But the Hornets Manager wants to hear it himself from Paul. Chris Paul has been rumored by wanting to play for the Knicks. He did not sign his contract extension. Paul said after the lockout ended he was just happy to be back with his team. Pauls friend and olympic teamate. Carmelo Anthony plays for the Knicks after being traded last season. He said he tried getting Chris to come to New York.  Paul said he is just  happy to be back in the gym with is team.

Rolando Mclain arrested

Rolando Mclain inside linebacker for the Oakland Raiders was arrested  Thursday on misdemeanor assaultfirearms and other charges after police said he fired a gun during a fight in his Alabama hometown.
McClain, 22, held a gun beside a man's head during an altercation and the man begged him not to shoot, according to a statement released by  Decatur Police Department.McClain, an All-American at Alabama during his junior year, moved the gun but fired a round beside the man's ear, according to the statement. No one was shot, but police said a man who was injured in the incident drove himself to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

McNabb waived by vikings

Donavon McNabb who has been in the NFL for 13 years. Was waived by the vikings thursday. McNabb played most of his career in Philadealphia but then being traded to the redskins for a short year there. McNabb was benched last year for Rex Grossman. Coach Leslie Frazier said "it was the best decision for both parties". Frazier coached McNabb in 1999 with the eagles. McNabb went 1-5 as a starter and threw only four touchdown passes before being benched for rookie first round pick Christian Ponder. Adam Shefter says the Cowboys or the Texans could put in a claim after losing there first 2 quarterbacks to season ending injuries.

Cutler out Henie in for bears


Jay Cutler the Chicago Bears quarterback is out for probably the rest of the regular season with a broken thumb that he had surgery on. Caleb Henie the Bears backup quarterback will start in his place. Henie who filled in last year in the NFC championship game after Cutler was hurt with a knee injury. Lovie Smith the bears coach said this " Dont feel sorry for us". Smith said Cutler will have surgery as soon as possible so they can possibly get him back for the regular season. Henie filled in pretty well last year and the bears will rally around him.

Arrest made in white house shooting

A Idaho man wanted for shooting a bullet at the white house was arrested Wedsnday in western Pennylsvania.Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez who was detained by Pennyslvania state police , allegedly was involved in shooting at a white house window on Friday.One bullet hit the window and was stopped by the bulletproof glass secret service said. Another hit the exterior. The man is supposed to appear in federal court in pittsburgh at 2 pm.

Shaq thinks Phil Jackson will coach in NBA again.

Shaquille Oneill who was coached by Phil Jackson thinks that he will coach again... and for the New York Knicks specifically to replace Mike Dantoni. Oneill said "He may come back" to a group of New York writers. "Phil says hes never coming back but he changed my career". Every always listens when Shaq talks reporters say so you never know what could really happen. Jackson has said all throughout the 10-11 season that he would not coach again. Even though he has a huge amount of competiveness he says he doesnt want to be stuck in the game forever.

Chinese spacecraft returns from mission

A unnamed chinese spacecraft returned from a docking mission. The craft landed by parachute it docked twice and there is still 1 craft in earths orbit. China will have 2 more orbiters and by 2020 and completely manned by then.China has been making steady progress towards a space station since 2003. The station will way about 60 tons considerably lighter than any other. China started there space station after a failed attemt to join the international space station.China said that they will not rule out anywthing involving the United States or Germany. NASA set to launch mars mission

NASA announced tuesday that it will launch its latest Mars mission. NASA will launch the rover named curiosity using a ATLAS V at cape canaveral in Florida. The mission is said to take about 8 monthsThe rover is expected to arrive on the planet on August 6, 2012. The rover is reportedly nearly seven foot tall and is twice as big as previous Mars’ rovers. Officials say it weighs over a ton, and it is expected to carry more than ten times the amount of scientific equipment sent with the Spirit and Opportunity rovers launched in 2004. The mission cost will $2.5 billion

Charity chief resigns

Second Mile CEO Jack Raykovitz is the latest person to be ousted in the aftermath of charges by a Pennsylvania grand jury that former Penn State assistant football coach  used his position at the charity to molest at least eight young boys over 15 years. Last week, Penn State fired its president and legendary football coach .Raykovitz's resignation came as Second Mile's board said it had hired an outside law firm. The firm will investigate how Second Mile responded to previous reports that Sandusky had abused boys he met through the charity.

Mayweathers adviser says fight is a joke

Record in rhino killing

341 rhinos have been killed so far in 2011 already passing last years record  of 333.
WWF says the spike in poaching in Africa and South Asia is becase of increased demand for rhino horn in Vietnamese  medicine.Poachers sawed off a rhinos horn leaving the animal to bleed to death.
In the five years up to 2005 an average of 36 rhinos were killed each year in South Africa.
The WWF said law enforcement efforts were increasing but were not enough to stop the smuggling and sale of their horns by organised crime rings.

Navy intercepts Gaza bound ships

The United States Navy intercepted ships headed for Gaza.The Navy successfully boarded two Gaza-bound boats attempting to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip on Friday.The activists will be turned over to police and immigration.Theships weretold that they could turn around and prevent an of the closure or head to a port in Egypt. Snowstorms in October

It is still October but the eastern part of the country is supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow.The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia from Friday to Saturday afternoon as a storm blows through the region. Even more snow was expected to fall in higher elevations, including the Laurel Highlands and the Pocono Mountains, forecasters said. Temperaturs are supposed to drop into the 30s. Forecasters said early snows could bring down power lines and tree lines.There will be high pressure from Canada.

13 year old pulled from rubble alive after 10 days

A 13 year old was the last survivor pulled from the rubble in a collapsed building in turkey.The boy was uninjured and survived on rainwater that dripped through the cracks in the rubble. Rescuers did not think that they would find the boy.Rescuers said he didnt even have a scratch on him. The first day he said he was hungry but then the hunger pains went away as he was only trying to survive. The death toll from the 7.2 magnitude has risen to 573 people.

People outrage over veteran injured at occupy wall street

People were outraged in Oakland and across the country after Scott Olsen was critically injured after being hit with a projectile thrown or shot from police in Oakland after police were trying to clear the plaza of protestors he suffered a fractured skull. Scott Olsen did to tours of duty in Iraq and to be injured like this at his own town made people mad. There was video of Scott laying stunned and bleeding and having to be drug away from the chaos.

Early hunters left mastadon murder weapon

 Archeoligists found a sharp bit of bone imbeded in a mastadons rib bone archeoligists are not sure of when the mastadon was killed. They say the hunter was probably trying to get the sharp object inbeetween the rib and hit a vital organ. They think the mastadon might of flinched or ran off when or before the hunter could get a hit on him. One thing archeoligists know is that it probably wasnt a fair fight because they think that the mastadon was probably old and sickly. Alabama excecutes man after 2005 death of son

Alabama on thursday executed a man who requested the death penalty and spent four years on death row for the 2005 beating and suffocation of his infant son. Christopher Thomas Johnson was pronounced dead after lethal injection made the rare move by pleading guilty to capital murder of his 6 month old son.Johnson said he killed his son because he hated his wife and didnt want to be near her and worry about her threats to put her in jail for alimony or child support . Johnson killed his son after he wouldnt stop crying.The forensic patholigist said the child suppered 85 seperate injuries.

Schools in Ohio close after exotic animals escape

In eastern Ohio schools were closed after Terry Thompson released his exotic animals from his reserve then shot and killed himself. Sherrifs deputies told people to stay in there houses while they went on the hunt for the beasts. Among the animals were leopards, grizzly bears, wolves, girrafes, camels and more.Thirty or  thirty five animals have been shot. There are still a couple animals that have not been found almost all of the animals were shot and killed. Police are not sure why Terry Thompson let the animals out .  Many think laws will be changed about owning dangerous animals.

Judge dismisses Hurt Locker case

Sergeant Jeffery Starver said the director of the Hurt Locker  based the movie "The Hurt Locker" on him. After the ruling director Mark Boal said the movie was inspired by many soldiers he met. Sergeant Jeffery Starver said he plans to appeal the decision. "We are not going to stop representing Sgt Starver Todd Weglarz said. The movie follows a team of dedicated bomb disposal experts in Iraq, and there new sergeant who takes dangerous and uneccasary risks. Starver claimed Boal wanted to stay with him exclusively because he did not trust other bomb technicians.Starver sued the makers of the film in March 2010, saying her rights of publicity were infringed and he was cheated out of the financial success of the movie.The Hurt Locker

NYC chopper crash pilot was experienced

The man at the helm of a private helicopter that crashed into the East River, killing one passenger and injuring three others, was an experienced commercial pilot who owns a company that manages a local airport. Investigators are still trying to determine why the helicopter went down shortly after takeoff from a riverbank heliport. Emergency crews arived quickly to see the helicopter overturned in the water. The pilot was very experience once landing a plane in a field near coney island after its engine failed. The passengers were friends of the pilots who were in New York for there anniversery.

Four mentally disabled people found in Philadelphia 'dungeon'

Four malnourished mentally disabled adults were found in a Philadelphia "Dungeon". Police said 2 of them might have been held at locations around the united states for as long as 11 years. The victims who each have the mental capacity of 10 year olds were chained to a boiler in a 15 ft by 15 ft basement behind a steel door that was chained shut. Police said it was like a horror story they were abused physically and emotionally.80 Linda Westen who is a convicted murderer allegedly posed as their caregiver and collected their disablity checks. She allegedly had to accomplices police said to of the captives were with her for 11 years and refered to Westen as "mom".

Suspect identified in California shooting

Santa Clara County sheriffs officials have identified the suspect in the Cupertino California workplace shooting . The shooting left two dead and six wounded.The gunman also shot a employee in the leg and carjacked her vehicle as he fled the scene authorities said, and is reportedly held up in a home in nearby Sunnyvale.He is armed and dangerous Cardoza said, according to the Mercury News in San Jose.
The rampage started at 4:30 am. when the suspect walked into a safety meeting  and opened fire with a handgun and a rifle, according to Cardoza.Shooting victims were taken to Stanford Medical Center and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.The family of an employee was outside the plant Wednesday waiting for information about the shootings."He's on the loose with a gun," said a woman.

US defence chief warns NATO allies about cuts

Leon Panetta said the US was facing cuts of at least $450billion to its mammoth defence budget over the next decade.He urged European partners not to repeat past mistakes of  hollowing out forces following military campaigns.Mr Panetta was speaking in Brussels ahead of talks with Nato counterparts.He is on a tour to  to Israel, Egypt and now on his first trip to Europe since taking over as defence secretary from Robert Gates in July.Mr Panetta gave his warning as austerity programmes bite on both sides of the Atlantic, and Nato members contemplate swingeing cuts to their defence spending.He says  Libyan and Afghanistan conflicts had exposed gaps in alliance capabilities including a shortage of drones refuelling tanker aircraft, munitions and strategic transport.

Germany reopens hundreds of nazi investigations



Germany has reportedly reopened hundreds of nazi death camp guards following the may conviction of 91 year old John Demjanjuk who was sentenced for 5 years for  28,060 counts of accessory to murder for his role as a guard at Polands Sabibir camp during World War II.

China mine accident kills 16

The death toll in a Chinese coal mine collapse reached sixteen as three more bodies were found.Two miners are still missing from the gas and coal explosion. Twenty eight miners were in the mineshaft at the time. An investigation into the cause is under way. Chinese mining accidents are not uncommon few mines in China follow government regulation codes. A number of bodies have been recovered as rescuers work at the scene.This is not the only mine explosion in china in recent years. Chinese miners are 350 times more likely to die at there workplace than there American and british counterparts.
